I enjoy visiting schools and libraries all over the country, and have also appeared at many book festivals such as Edinburgh, Cheltenham, Bath, Kerry, Hamburg and Zug (Switzerland).
If you would like to discuss a visit, contact me for details or get in touch with Little Tiger Press. Every visit is different but I’ve tried to give a flavour of what I do on this page.
What’s in a school visit?
Most school or library visits are for a full day. In a typical session I talk about how I write, read extracts from my books (Dirty Bertie and others) and throw in a generous helping of audience participation including: ‘How to Draw Your own Cartoons’. I always leave space for children to ask their own questions at the end, such as ‘Are you rich?’ and ‘Is Dirty Bertie based on someone you know?’
"A great mix of listening and audience participation. The children are now hooked on Dirty Bertie books!"
Primary teacher - Ruddington
What does it cost?
My fees for author visits are based on Society of Author guidelines, currently £400 a day plus travel expenses. I live in Nottingham so ideally prefer to visit places within an hour or two.
Will you sign books?
I’m always delighted to sign books during a visit and for many children the highlight of the day is the chance to come away with a book signed by an author they’ve met in person.
"The children absolutely loved you!"
Coventry Literary Festival
"I had a great day!"
